Traditional piccolo mutes are notorious for not playing in tune. However, this one is in tune across the range, and with a smooth, round, velvety sound. You may not use it often, but when you do need it, you’ll want this one in your gig bag.
Marc Geujon (Principal Trumpet – Opera National de Paris, Prof. Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris):
“The piccolo straight works well too. Very useful tool for piccolo when you want a sound not too metallic.”
Ethan Cogswell –
It’s perfect. There’s no debate, and I seldom ever use that word to describe anything in music but it’s truly the perfect picc straight mute. No pitch issues, no change in back pressure, NO weight at all, there’s nothing but positive things to say about this mute. I sold my old picc straight as soon as I played this thing.
