Adjustable Bb Cup Mutes offer a huge range of creative possibilities. Our Adjustable Bb Cup Mute allows you to recreate soundscapes from vintage straight, through classical cup, to tight cup, all the way to a bucket sound. And you can blend those sounds depending on the cup position. Set the sound you want with a simple twist and you’re ready to go.
This is our most versatile mute in the range. If the cup is all the way out, it sounds like a vintage straight mute. As you gradually turn the cup and it moves towards the bell, the sound morphs into an open cup, then onto a closed cup, then a bucket sound. If the cup touches the bell, you have a usable practice mute. Add in the optional (but included) mute muffler, and you essentially double the sounds you can make. The muffler takes some of the ‘edge’ out of the sound, wrapping your audience in a warm sonic blanket.
Opt for a looser fit by gently sanding the 6-corks around the cup section, and you can change the sound whilst you solo; imagine a call & response with yourself just from a simple twist!
